# Global Earthquake Feed Snapshot

All events in the USGS past-30-days feed, including locations, magnitudes, depths and revision times.

## Contents

| File | Records | Format |
|---|---:|---|
| earthquakes.json | 10,815 | JSON array |

The download contains the populated data, a field dictionary, source metadata, reuse terms, a change log and file digests. It contains no scripts, libraries, executables or conversion tools.

## Coverage

Complete retrieved all_month feed. The 30-day coverage window is defined by USGS, not selected by Arcomm. Detection and reporting are not globally uniform; events can be revised or removed. This is a dated snapshot, not a live alert service.

## Sources and dates

## Read the data

JSON tables are arrays of records. GeoJSON files are FeatureCollections, with data fields under each feature’s properties. `data-dictionary.json` defines the fields, units, nulls and observed types. `metadata.json` supplies primary keys and source hashes. Preserve identifiers as text and distinguish missing values from zero.

## Example record

This is an actual record from the data. For map layers, the example shows properties; the downloaded GeoJSON also contains the complete geometry.

## Reuse terms

USGS-produced data: U.S. public domain. U.S. Geological Survey, Earthquake Hazards Program; contributing network identifiers are retained.

[Publisher terms](https://www.usgs.gov/information-policies-and-instructions/copyrights-and-credits). License notices are included where supplied.

## Tracking changes

Compare event_id and updated_unix_ms on future snapshots. An event disappearing from a rolling feed can mean it aged out, not that it was retracted.

This publication is a snapshot. No automatic refresh is scheduled. New imports must preserve their source version, retrieval date and hashes, then publish a new Arcomm revision.
