What it shows

  • 216: economies with valid matched endpoints
  • 8.22B: world population in 2025
  • 2.72x: world population relative to 1960

This describes past growth, not a forecast. The plotted world line is the source world aggregate, so country totals and regional aggregates are never double-counted.

Method

Country CAGR = 100*((P_end/P_start)^(1/year_span)-1), using positive nonmissing values at both source endpoints. Aggregates are excluded from the map. Historical borders and source series can change.

The collection bundle includes models/population-change-model.json with reusable derived results and stable source identifiers.
